Bronx, NY—–Since its debut in 1983, McDonald’s Gospelfest has become a defining celebration of gospel music in the United States, drawing audiences from across the New York and New Jersey region each year. The long-running event blends top-tier talent with rising voices, creating a stage where tradition and new artistry come together.

Guided by producer A. Curtis Farrow, Gospelfest has evolved into more than just a concert—it’s a competitive platform and cultural gathering that highlights the depth and spirit of gospel music. Its reputation has been built on powerful performances, community pride, and its role in spotlighting the next generation of artists.

This year’s Saturday night program carried that legacy forward with a memorable lineup and dynamic hosting by Liz Black of WBLS and Dr. Bob Lee.

The evening opened with Tony and Grammy Award-winning powerhouse Jennifer Holliday, best known for her iconic performance in Dreamgirls. A celebrated vocalist with decades of acclaim across Broadway and music, she delivered a stirring set that included “Where I Would Be,” “I Got Something This World Can’t Take,” “Come Sunday,” and “God Is Faithful,” before bringing the crowd to its feet with her signature anthem “I’m Telling You.”

Next, Grammy Award-winning gospel artist Le’Andria Johnson took the stage. Rising to prominence after winning Sunday Best, she is known for her raw, soul-stirring delivery and deeply personal testimony through music. She captivated the audience with “Jesus,” “Better Days,” and “God Will Take Care of You,” closing with a powerful rendition of “Deliver Me.”

Closing out the night, Grammy Award-winning choir leader, pastor, and gospel legend Hezekiah Walker delivered an electrifying finale. A multiple Stellar Award winner and one of gospel music’s most influential voices, Walker had the entire venue engaged with classics like “Souled Out,” “I Need You to Survive,” “Every Praise,” and “Better,” before ending the night on a high note with “Grateful.”

From start to finish, the event reflected everything Gospelfest represents—faith, passion, and the unifying power of music—continuing its legacy as one of the nation’s premier gospel showcases.
