Anaheim, CA—-The Los Angeles Angels outlasted the Seattle Mariners in a wild extra-inning battle, securing an 8-7 walk-off victory in 11 innings on Sunday.

The game ended with Nolan Schanuel delivering a sacrifice fly that brought home automatic runner Adam Frazier. After an intentional walk to Zach Neto and a well-executed bunt by Ozwald Peraza moved both runners into scoring position, Schanuel lifted a deep fly to left. Randy Arozarena made the catch, but his throw home was off target, allowing the winning run to score.

The Angels needed a clutch defensive stand just moments earlier to keep the game alive. Shaun Anderson came through in the top of the 11th, striking out Cal Raleigh with the bases loaded to prevent Seattle from pulling ahead.

Both teams traded blows late. In the 10th inning, Seattle briefly took the lead on an RBI single from Arozarena, only for Logan O’Hoppe to answer with a sacrifice fly for the Angels.

The drama began even earlier in the ninth. With Los Angeles one out away from closing it out, Raleigh sparked a rally with a two-out double, and Julio Rodríguez followed with a game-tying RBI single to make it 6-6.

Seattle had grabbed momentum in the middle innings, highlighted by a three-run homer from Cole Young in the fifth inning. The Angels responded quickly, with Jo Adell and Frazier each driving in runs to keep the game tight.

Earlier, Seattle jumped ahead on a two-run single from Leo Rivas in the second inning, while Jorge Soler paced the Angels’ offense with RBI singles in both the first and third innings.

Los Angeles briefly took control in the fourth, capitalizing on a defensive miscue before Schanuel added an RBI single to give the Angels a 4-2 advantage.

There was also a scare for the Angels when Mike Trout exited in the eighth inning after being hit on the hand by a pitch from Casey Legumina. X-rays came back negative, and Trout is considered day-to-day.

In the end, it was Schanuel’s redemption moment that sealed a back-and-forth thriller, giving the Angels a hard-fought win in front of their home crowd.
