COLUMBIA, S.C. — The LSU Tigers softball delivered a well-rounded performance Saturday, evening the series with a 5-1 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks softball at Carolina Softball Stadium.

Pitcher Cece Cellura set the tone, tossing her second straight complete game while holding South Carolina in check for most of the afternoon. She worked all seven innings, allowing just one run on eight hits while inducing steady contact, including multiple groundouts and a key double play.

At the plate, Kylee Edwards continued her strong stretch, leading LSU’s offense with a multi-hit performance. She went 2-for-3, scored twice, and highlighted her day with an aggressive steal of home.

LSU got on the board early thanks to Edwards, who doubled to open the game before Sierra Daniel followed with an RBI double to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The game shifted decisively in the fourth inning. After Edwards and Destiny Harris reached base, Edwards raced home on a steal to extend the lead. Moments later, Maddox McKee delivered the biggest hit of the day—a two-run triple down the right-field line that pushed LSU’s advantage to 4-0.

McKee wasn’t done, adding an RBI single in the sixth inning to bring home another run and provide extra breathing room.

South Carolina struggled to generate consistent offense against Cellura, but Shae Anderson broke up the shutout with a solo home run in the seventh. Cellura quickly regrouped, closing out the game with a strikeout and a routine flyout.

LSU’s lineup showed depth, with multiple players contributing key hits throughout the game, while the defense backed its pitcher with steady play in the field.

With the win, LSU improves its position in SEC play and sets up a decisive rubber match in the series finale, scheduled for Sunday.
