AUSTIN, TX — The Las Vegas Aces wrapped up their two-game preseason schedule with a 101–84 loss to the Dallas Wings on Sunday night, after falling into an early deficit they never recovered from.
A’ja Wilson led Las Vegas with 18 points, bouncing back from a quiet first quarter to anchor the offense. Jackie Young added 16 points, while Chelsea Gray finished with 10. Jewell Loyd and NaLyssa Smith each contributed nine points in the effort.
Dallas showcased balanced scoring throughout the night, placing five players in double figures. Aziaha James led the way with 18 points, providing a major spark off the bench.
The Wings set the tone early, using an 8–0 run to take control just minutes into the game and later adding an 11–0 burst to extend their lead to 26–12 late in the first quarter. Dallas shot an impressive 63.6% from the field in the opening frame, including five three-pointers, while also dominating the glass and ball movement. Las Vegas struggled to keep pace despite solid shooting of its own, trailing 35–20 after one.
In the second quarter, neither side managed a significant run, but Dallas maintained a comfortable double-digit advantage. Both teams shot efficiently, each hitting 50% from the field. Wilson found her rhythm during this stretch, scoring 10 points on perfect shooting to lead all players, though the Wings still carried a 54–42 lead into halftime.
Dallas quickly widened the gap after the break, opening the third quarter with an 11–3 run to build its largest lead of the night at that point. While both teams continued to shoot well, the Wings’ consistent scoring kept Las Vegas at a distance. Wilson again led the Aces in the period, but Dallas entered the fourth quarter firmly in control, 82–64.
The Aces were unable to mount a comeback in the final period, getting no closer than 17 points. Although Las Vegas shot better than Dallas in the fourth, the early deficit proved too large to overcome. Loyd and Stephanie Talbot each scored five points in the quarter, while Amy Okonkwo led the Wings with eight.
Despite strong individual performances, the Aces were undone by Dallas’ hot start, efficient shooting, and balanced offensive attack, closing out their preseason on a losing note.
