Stillwater, OK. — Oklahoma State turned a tightly contested game into a dominant victory Saturday night, overwhelming Colorado 57-24 after halftime behind a prolific passing performance from Drew Mestemaker and a defense that shut down the Buffaloes when it mattered most.

Mestemaker threw for 386 yards and four touchdowns, while Sam Keltner made school history by connecting on five field goals. Running back Caleb Hawkins added 120 rushing yards as the Cowboys erupted for 34 unanswered points in the second half to secure the victory.

Oklahoma State (5-2, 3-1 Big 12) finished with 598 yards of total offense and 28 first downs, delivering an impressive performance in front of its home crowd. Colorado (2-5, 0-4) managed just 120 yards of offense after halftime as the Cowboys took control of the contest.

The Buffaloes appeared poised to challenge Oklahoma State in the opening half, building a 24-23 advantage behind quarterback Isaac Wilson. Wilson threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns while adding a rushing score, helping Colorado take a one-point lead into the locker room.

Mestemaker also found success early, throwing for 264 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. However, Oklahoma State struggled to turn several promising drives into touchdowns, settling for field goals of 47, 30 and 41 yards by Keltner.

Keltner’s accuracy provided valuable points while keeping the Cowboys within striking distance. His performance also extended his streak to 18 consecutive made field goals, tying Matt Amendola for the longest such streak in Oklahoma State program history.

The momentum shifted dramatically on the opening play of the third quarter. Wilson fumbled while attempting a keeper, and Oklahoma State safety Quinton Hammonds recovered the ball at the Colorado 24-yard line.

The Cowboys wasted little time taking advantage of the turnover. Two plays later, Mestemaker connected with tight end Morgan McPhaul on a three-yard touchdown pass, putting Oklahoma State ahead and giving the Cowboys a lead they would not surrender.

The defensive stop sparked an offensive surge. After forcing Colorado to punt, Oklahoma State marched 78 yards for another touchdown to extend its advantage to 37-24. Hawkins played a key role in the drive, breaking off a 39-yard run before adding a 17-yard reception to help move the Cowboys downfield.

From there, Oklahoma State continued to apply pressure on both sides of the ball. The Cowboys’ offense kept producing points, while the defense repeatedly disrupted Colorado’s attempts to respond. The Buffaloes, who had moved the ball effectively before halftime, struggled to find the same rhythm in the second half.

Colorado also hurt its chances with three second-half turnovers and four punts, allowing Oklahoma State to seize control of the game. The Cowboys’ ability to capitalize on mistakes turned what had been a competitive matchup into a one-sided finish.

For Oklahoma State, the victory highlighted the team’s offensive depth and second-half adjustments. Mestemaker delivered a career-defining performance through the air, Hawkins supplied a strong ground attack, and Keltner’s record-tying accuracy helped the Cowboys maintain pressure on Colorado throughout the night.

The Buffaloes, meanwhile, will need to regroup after watching a halftime lead disappear. Their first-half production offered promise, but the inability to sustain drives and protect possession after the break proved costly.

Oklahoma State’s 57-24 win gave the Cowboys a convincing homecoming victory and strengthened their position in the Big 12 standings.
