Bronx, NY——In the Bronx, the New York Yankees kicked off their home schedule in style Friday, rolling past the Miami Marlins 8-2 behind an early statement swing from Aaron Judge.

Judge wasted no time setting the tone, launching a two-run homer in the opening inning after Trent Grisham drew a leadoff walk—one of 11 issued by Miami’s pitching staff. The blast came off Eury Pérez and gave New York immediate control. Judge finished with three RBIs and continues to showcase his power early in the season, with three of his five hits already leaving the yard.

Offensive support came from Ben Rice, who delivered a home run and a two-run double as the Yankees built a comfortable lead.

On the mound, Will Warren turned in a solid outing, allowing four hits over 5 2/3 innings. The only blemishes were solo home runs by Xavier Edwards in the first inning and Owen Caissie in the fifth.

Miami, which entered the game off a strong 5-1 start, struggled with control throughout. Pérez surrendered four runs across four innings while issuing a career-high six walks, including back-to-back bases-loaded free passes in the second inning. Reliever Tyler Phillips added to the troubles with a run-scoring wild pitch in the sixth.

On the basepaths, Jazz Chisholm Jr. and José Caballero each swiped two bases, while Judge also added a steal against catcher Liam Hicks, who has had difficulty limiting the running game.

The Yankees will look to keep the momentum going Saturday, with Ryan Weathers set to face his former team opposite Miami starter Max Meyer.
