East Rutherford, NJ—-The New York Giants enter the 2026 National Football League Draft with uncommon flexibility and opportunity, holding two selections inside the top 10—No. 5 and No. 10 overall. After parting ways with a foundational defensive piece earlier in the offseason, the franchise now has a chance to reshape its roster in a significant way in a single night.

This marks the third consecutive year the Giants will pick in the top 10, continuing a stretch that reflects recent struggles on the field. Following a 4–13 finish in 2025, they secured the fifth overall pick, adding another premium selection after acquiring No. 10 via trade. That comes on the heels of a 3–14 campaign in 2024 that earned them the third overall pick.

New direction on the sidelines

Change has also come at the top. The organization moved on from head coach Brian Daboll and brought in veteran leader John Harbaugh, previously of the Baltimore Ravens, to guide the next phase.

General manager Joe Schoen remains in place and will oversee another critical draft. His tenure has drawn mixed reviews, especially after the extension of Daniel Jones and the departure of Saquon Barkley. Still, his bold move to trade back into the first round last year to select quarterback Jaxson Dart is beginning to show promise.

A defining offseason move

The Giants significantly altered their draft outlook by trading defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals. In return, they secured the 10th overall pick, giving them two premium assets to accelerate their roster build.

That move signals a clear shift toward constructing a team around Dart as he heads into his second season.

Focus on roster development

New York has already been aggressive in free agency, bringing in more than 20 players to address key needs. With eight total draft selections, the front office now has additional tools to reinforce both sides of the ball and build a more balanced roster.

First-round Picks

No. 5 overall: Arvell Reese (LB/EDGE, Ohio State)

Reese stands out as one of the most versatile defenders in the class. Capable of lining up as both an off-ball linebacker and pass rusher, he offers flexibility and long-term upside. After recording 6.5 sacks in a rotational role, his development curve remains steep.

With Brian Burns and Abdul Carter already in place, Reese could be deployed creatively—or prompt adjustments within the defensive front. The Giants couldn’t pass up on Reese.

No. 10 overall (via Cincinnati): Francis Mauigoa (OT, Miami)

Mauigoa brings size, strength, and physicality to the offensive line, addressing a major priority for the Giants: protecting their young quarterback.

Though primarily a right tackle in college, he could begin his career inside at guard alongside veterans Andrew Thomas and Jermaine Eluemunor. His addition would help solidify pass protection and improve the run game. Mauigoa pushes people off the ball. A steal at the 10 spot.

Looking ahead

Armed with two high-end picks, a new head coach, and a developing quarterback, the Giants are at a pivotal point. The decisions made in this draft could accelerate their rebuild and shape the roster for years to come.

With expectations rising, the pressure is on to turn draft capital into meaningful production—and begin a new chapter for the franchise.
