Bronx, NY — Jazz Chisholm Jr. delivered the decisive blow Tuesday night, launching a sixth-inning home run off Jacob deGrom to lift the New York Yankees to a 7–4 win over the Texas Rangers. The victory marked New York’s fifth straight and their 15th in the last 17 games.
With the game tied 3–3, Chisholm turned on a 98 mph fastball and sent it 413 feet into the right-field seats, giving the Yankees a lead they wouldn’t relinquish. It was his second career home run against deGrom, continuing a rare trend of success against the ace.
Earlier, Ryan McMahon helped erase an early deficit with a two-run homer in the second inning. The Yankees had fallen behind 3–0 before coming to the plate, but quickly chipped away at the lead. McMahon’s blast placed him among a select group of hitters—including Giancarlo Stanton, Freddie Freeman, and Austin Riley—with at least three home runs off deGrom.
Cody Bellinger sparked the comeback effort, driving in a run with a double off the right-center field wall after Aaron Judge reached base. Later in the game, Bellinger struck again with a two-run double, coming immediately after Judge drew his fourth intentional walk of the season.
Paul Goldschmidt added insurance in the eighth inning with his 374th career home run, extending the Yankees’ lead to four runs.
DeGrom, now 2–2, surrendered six runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings—his highest runs allowed total since 2019. Meanwhile, Texas jumped out quickly against rookie Elmer Rodríguez, loading the bases in the first inning. Joc Pederson drove in a run with a sacrifice fly, Ezequiel Duran followed with an RBI single, and Josh Jung later scored on a wild pitch.
Rodríguez settled in after the rough start, allowing three runs over 4 2/3 innings in his second career outing. Brent Headrick earned the win in relief, escaping a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning by striking out pinch hitter Sam Haggerty.
In the late innings, David Bednar took control, stranding the bases loaded in the eighth and finishing the game for his 10th save.
The series continues Wednesday with Nathan Eovaldi set to start for Texas against Yankees right-hander Will Warren.
