FOXBOROUGH, MA—-The New England Revolution continued their dominant run at home Saturday night, rallying from an early deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Union 2-1 at Gillette Stadium. The victory marked New England’s sixth consecutive home win, the best start at home in club history, while also keeping their momentum rolling near the top of the Eastern Conference standings.
Despite controlling possession for much of the opening half, the Revolution found themselves trailing late before intermission. Philadelphia capitalized in the 37th minute when a dangerous ball played behind the defense led to an unfortunate own goal. Defender Will Sands hustled back attempting to clear the threat, but the ball redirected into the net past goalkeeper Matt Turner, giving the visitors a 1-0 edge.
New England showed flashes early, with captain Carles Gil orchestrating the attack. One of the best opportunities of the half came when Gil slipped a perfectly timed pass to Luca Langoni, whose shot narrowly missed the far post.
The turning point came early in the second half. Philadelphia nearly doubled the lead in the 59th minute, but Turner produced a crucial save before defender Mamadou Fofana delivered a dramatic goal-line clearance to keep the Revolution within striking distance.
Moments later, New England finally broke through.

Following a corner kick, Gil quickly gathered a loose clearance and found Langoni in space near the top of the box. The Argentine winger cut inside and curled a brilliant right-footed strike into the upper corner in the 61st minute, bringing the home crowd to life and leveling the match at 1-1.
The Revolution continued to press for a winner as the rain intensified in Foxborough. In the 75th minute, Fofana sparked another dangerous attack with a perfectly placed long ball that released Peyton Miller down the flank, but Miller’s attempt rolled just wide of the near post.
New England’s persistence paid off late.
Returning from injury, midfielder Matt Polster helped ignite the decisive sequence by driving through the middle of the field before finding Dor Turgeman near the edge of the area. After a fortunate deflection, the ball fell directly to Gil, who calmly buried a left-footed finish in the 87th minute for the game-winning goal.
The comeback victory marked yet another resilient performance for head coach Marko Mitrović and his squad, as New England improved its impressive early-season form with another three-point performance in front of the home supporters.
The Revolution now prepare for a major Eastern Conference showdown Wednesday night when they host Nashville SC at Gillette Stadium in a battle between two of the conference’s top teams.
