Harrison, NJ — Australia A continued its impressive run with a dominant 52-0 victory over the USA Eagles, producing another convincing performance that highlighted the depth of talent pushing for opportunities with the Wallabies.

The Australians controlled the contest from the outset, combining aggressive attacking rugby with a disciplined defensive effort. Several players made strong statements, but Bledisloe Cup debutant Harry McLaughlin-Phillips was at the center of the action.

McLaughlin-Phillips finished with 17 points, scoring a try and playing a major role in creating opportunities for his teammates. His most impressive contribution came when he broke through for a 50-meter run before delivering a timely offload to number eight Joe Brial, who finished the move with a try.

Brial also demonstrated his playmaking ability, setting up McLaughlin-Phillips with a clever kick along the ground. The former Queensland Reds teammates combined effectively, giving Australia another dimension in attack.

Zac Lomax experienced his first taste of international rugby and grew more comfortable as the match progressed. Playing in the midfield, Lomax displayed good vision and awareness, delivering an impressive no-look pass to put Kalani Thomas in position to score following Brial’s break.

Lomax also made an important defensive contribution late in the first half. With the USA applying pressure near the Australian try line, he produced a timely try-saving effort, knocking the ball away from an American attacker before he could ground it.

The centre later earned a yellow card for USA prop Mason Pedersen after executing a chip-and-chase play and being tripped during the sequence. Lomax’s night ended around the 60-minute mark.

Western Force teammate Mac Grealy also made the most of his opportunity. After being mentioned by Wallabies coach Les Kiss over the weekend, Grealy delivered an impressive performance, recording three line breaks and providing a try assist.

Australia’s forwards were equally influential. Nick Frost, Will Harris and Toby Macpherson caused significant problems for the American lineout during the opening half. Their pressure resulted in four steals and two additional USA throws that failed to find their intended targets.

The Eagles eventually moved away from relying on the lineout and attempted to create opportunities through their scrum inside Australia’s 22. However, the visitors continued to control the physical battle.

Harris and Frost helped Australia regain momentum after a brief stretch of American pressure, allowing the visitors to establish a commanding 33-0 halftime advantage.

The Australians picked up where they left off after the break. McLaughlin-Phillips and Brial added tries as Australia continued to stretch the margin and keep the Eagles from building any offensive rhythm.

A yellow card to Luke Reimer for a dangerous tackle without the use of his arms briefly offered the United States an opportunity to get on the scoreboard. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Australia’s defense remained organized and refused to surrender points.

The final 10 minutes featured a more open contest, with both sides creating opportunities. However, the Eagles could not break through. Lington Ieli crossed for a late try to push Australia beyond the 50-point mark and complete the shutout.

Australia finished with eight tries, while McLaughlin-Phillips converted six of eight attempts.

The 52-0 result was another statement performance from Australia A, with McLaughlin-Phillips, Brial, Lomax, Grealy and the forwards all providing reasons for the Wallabies coaching staff to take notice.

Final Score: Australia A 52, USA Eagles 0
