Cleveland, OH — The New York Knicks are headed back to the NBA Finals for the first time in more than two decades after delivering a stunning blowout performance Monday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Powered by a balanced offensive attack and suffocating defense, New York cruised to a 130-93 victory at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to complete a commanding four-game sweep of the Eastern Conference finals.
Karl-Anthony Towns led the way with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while OG Anunoby added 17 points as the Knicks overwhelmed Cleveland from the second quarter on.
Landry Shamet provided a huge spark off the bench with 16 points, continuing his red-hot shooting series, while Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson each chipped in 15 points.
The victory extended New York’s postseason winning streak to 11 games, making the Knicks just the fourth team in NBA history to accomplish that feat during a playoff run.
By the fourth quarter, the outcome had long been decided. Knicks coach Mike Brown pulled his starters with nearly eight minutes remaining and New York holding a massive 35-point advantage as chants of “Knicks in four!” echoed throughout the arena from a large contingent of traveling fans.
Celebrity supporters including Spike Lee, Tracy Morgan, Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner were among those celebrating the historic moment courtside.
Cleveland started strong behind Donovan Mitchell, who scored the Cavaliers’ first eight points as the home team briefly grabbed an early lead. But once the Knicks settled in, the game quickly turned into a one-sided affair.

After trailing midway through the opening quarter, New York unleashed a devastating 20-0 run that completely changed the game’s momentum. Cleveland’s offense collapsed during the stretch, missing nine consecutive shots and committing multiple turnovers while the Knicks buried shots from all over the floor.
New York’s bench proved especially impactful. Shamet knocked down multiple 3-pointers as the Knicks continued their torrid perimeter shooting. The veteran guard was nearly automatic throughout the series, consistently punishing Cleveland’s defense from deep.
By halftime, the Knicks held a commanding 68-49 lead after shooting efficiently and dominating the glass. Towns already had a double-double before the break with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while four New York players had reached double figures.
The second half offered little resistance from Cleveland as New York continued to extend the lead. The Knicks eventually pushed their advantage to 45 points in the fourth quarter, silencing the home crowd and putting the finishing touches on one of the most dominant postseason victories in franchise history.
Mitchell finished with 31 points for Cleveland, but the Cavaliers had no answers offensively outside of their All-Star guard. The loss marked Cleveland’s first postseason sweep since the 2018 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
The Finals appearance represents a major breakthrough for Mike Brown in his first season leading the Knicks. Brown, who previously guided Cleveland to the NBA Finals in 2007, was hired after New York parted ways with Tom Thibodeau following last season’s Eastern Conference finals loss.
Now, the Knicks will await the winner of the Western Conference finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs, a series currently tied at two games apiece.
New York is seeking its first NBA championship since 1973 and will make its third Finals appearance since that title run.
