Colombia’s premier salsa bands, Grupo Galé & La Sonora Carruseles, make their debut at Lehman Center for an exhilarating evening of Latin dance music, performing celebrated hits including “Micaela,” “Arranca en Fa,” “La Comay,” and “Perdóname.” Known for their explosive live performances, infectious rhythms, and unmistakable brass sound, Grupo Galé & La Sonora Carruseles continue to delight audiences worldwide with an unforgettable celebration of salsa dura, boogaloo, and Latin dance music.
Grupo Galé is a Colombian salsa orchestra founded in Medellín, Colombia, in 1989 by director Diego Galé. The ensemble features nine members, including three lead vocalists: Diego Javier Gonzales, Carlos Llamosa, and Charly Towers. Renowned for its high-energy and danceable beat, Grupo Galé has fused upbeat salsa with Colombia’s rich musical heritage for over 30 years. The group’s enduring legacy reflects Diego Galé’s dedication as a composer, percussionist, producer, and orchestra director, as well as his ability to blend the traditional essence of Colombian salsa with a contemporary sound.
The group has enjoyed tremendous success in its home country and has built an enthusiastic international following, particularly throughout Europe. The band’s latest album, Sentimientos (2025), is a vibrant and deeply moving work that reaffirms the power of salsa as a vehicle for human expression.
Sonora Carruseles was founded in Medellín, Colombia, in 1995, and quickly established itself as one of the most internationally renowned salsa orchestras. The orchestra features professional vocalists such as Arnold Moreno, Igor Moreno, and Johan Molina. Led by the talented Manolo Puerto and is under the musical direction of Morist Jiménez Jr. The orchestra pays tribute to the golden era of salsa while bringing its own modern style to audiences worldwide.

Since its founding in 1980, Lehman Center for the Performing Arts has been deeply rooted in the cultural life of the Bronx. In its 46-year tenure, the Center has been committed to bringing both local and national attention to historically underrepresented groups in the performing arts, such as Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald in the 80s and 90s, and Janelle Monáe in the Super Bowl halftime show in 2011. Lehman Center serves the artistic needs of the community through four distinct programming series: “Punchline,” “First Curtain,” “Bronx Music,” and “The Discovery Series,” with a specific focus on youth programming, comedy, the musical heritage of the Bronx, and exposure to wider global cultures. These longstanding traditions underscore Lehman Center’s historic role as one of the Bronx’s most important cultural institutions, dedicated to preserving and uplifting diverse artistic heritage for all.
