ATLANTA, GA — Angel Reese continued her remarkable season Friday night, posting 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Atlanta Dream to a 98-89 victory over the Seattle Storm and extend the team’s winning streak to five games.
Reese’s performance marked her 19th double-double of the season, further cementing her status as one of the WNBA’s premier rebounders. The standout forward also grabbed six offensive rebounds, setting a new Atlanta Dream single-season franchise record with 137 offensive boards, surpassing Brionna Jones’ previous mark of 136. Reese accomplished the feat in just 27 games.
Atlanta (18-10) received contributions throughout its lineup in another balanced offensive performance. Naz Hillmon scored 18 points, while Allisha Gray added 16. Brionna Jones provided a spark off the bench with 14 points, and veteran point guard Jordin Canada finished with 10 points and nine assists, helping orchestrate the Dream’s offense.
Although leading scorer Rhyne Howard entered the game averaging 17.2 points per contest, Seattle’s defense limited her to nine points on 3-of-13 shooting. Even with Howard’s quiet night, Atlanta’s depth proved more than enough to secure the victory.
Seattle (6-25) was led by Natisha Hiedeman, who poured in a game-high 23 points. Rookie Dominique Malonga recorded an impressive double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Ezi Magbegor added 12 points off the bench. Flau’jae Johnson struggled offensively, connecting on just 2 of her 11 field-goal attempts.
The Dream appeared to have the game in hand after building an 87-74 advantage with just under four minutes remaining. However, the Storm refused to go away, responding with a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to 92-88 with 43.4 seconds left.
Atlanta remained composed down the stretch.
After Seattle closed within four points, Allisha Gray calmly stepped to the free-throw line and converted two clutch free throws to halt the Storm’s momentum and effectively put the game out of reach. The Dream finished strong to secure the nine-point victory.
The loss was Seattle’s eighth consecutive defeat as the Storm continue to search for answers during a difficult stretch of the season.
Meanwhile, Atlanta continues to build momentum heading into the final weeks of the regular season. The Dream have relied on balanced scoring, strong rebounding, and improved defensive play during their current five-game winning streak, with Reese once again serving as the catalyst on both ends of the floor.
The Storm will look to snap their losing streak Monday night when they visit the New York Liberty. Atlanta returns home to host the Las Vegas Aces in a matchup featuring two of the WNBA’s top contenders.
